I've made no secret about it: I really don't like cold weather. But this year, instead of cursing Mr. Frost and the icicle he rode in on, I decided to embrace him. When the first chill set in, I nestled into some clear quartz crystals I'd been hoarding and selected the iciest one. The more I looked at the crystal, the prettier it got--the sparkle, the clarity, the color. Where the smaller crystal overlays the larger one, the light creates an iridescent rainbow effect. That's when I thought about Superman and his Fortress of Solitude ice
cave, of course. (It's also no secret that I'm a geek for superhero things.) There is more to this crystal than initially meets the eye.
For the bail, I chose a simple design as well as a simple chain to complete the
necklace. I wanted the crystal to be the centerpiece. It deserved it. It's been
in the ground or a mountain somewhere for a pretty long while, so it's time it
got out to see some more of the world.
